The first opportunity I took to reflect on desires and demands came with a request from the Co-Executive Directors of the Anglican Alliance to lead the prayers at the commissioning service for them, the Alliance Board of Trustees and Advisory Council in St. James Church, Hong Kong.
God of justice and compassion,
We come as women and men YOU have called to be part of the work of the Anglican Alliance, on behalf of the Anglican Communion ?directors, board and advisory council members.
We are who we are.
We acknowledge our desires ?to be right, to be seen, to be heard and to make things whole and holy? that sometimes interfere and even block your love and justice.
Open our hearts to hear your demands for blessing, love, vision and courage and to meet them with the deepest desires of our hearts for the common good in your kingdom.
