Brazil: Young adults to participate in WCC Mutirão

“Coming together to make a difference” is a rough translation of the Portuguese word Mutirão.  As well describing a component of the Assembly this phrase captures the hope that underlies the World Council of Churches 9th Assembly, currently  taking place (February 14-23, 2006) in Porto Alegre, Brazil.  Christians from around the world, representing many denominations are meeting under the theme â┚¬Ã…”God, in Your Grace, Transform the World.â┚¬?

PWRDF is supporting the participation of international partners and three Canadian young adults to attend the Mutirão gathering.  An integral part of the Assembly, the Mutirão will provide a space for workshops, celebrations, seminars and exhibits for the whole assembly community.
In addition to this ecumenical opportunity prior to the gathering the PWRDF young people will be hosted by our indigenous partners in Brazil.
See our WCC Assembly page for further information on the gathering and the participants, including links to their e-mail diaries.
