Andrean Moorlands
Alongside Hope Development Project
Led by WACC and Grupo Comunicarte in Colombia, this three-year project empowers local communities in the Andean moorlands to participate in environmental decision-making and protect the delicate Páramo ecosystem. Through multimedia communication, especially local radio, the project strengthens community engagement, promotes women’s leadership (targeting 50% of trained reporters), and puts scientific data in the hands of the community to inform policy. WACC, based in Toronto, and Comunicarte work together with local experts and government agencies to ensure marginalized voices are heard and environmental and social justice are advanced.
